In our continuing efforts for lower carbon production, Lagan Cement produces a greener cement, known as CEM II Portland Limestone cement, which has a lower amount of CO2 per tonne of cement produced than ordinary cement.
CEM II has 10% to 20% less clinker than CEM I and would effectively reduce the amount of clinker per tonne of cement. As the manufacture of clinker produces CO2, this will reduce the amount of CO2 per tonne of cement produced.

Launched by Lagan Cement in 2006, lower carbon CEM II Cement has allowed us to substantially reduce our carbon emissions per tonne of cement produced. Coupled with the on-going drive for alternative fuel substitution, this measure will allow Lagan to achieve our ultimate goal of Lower Carbon Production going forward. |
