The bitumen division is now at the leading edge of binder and emulsion technology.
Lagan Bitumen holds a range of accreditations including ISO 18001, ISO 14001 and ISO 9001, for Health and safety, Environment and Quality respectively. It has it’s own quality testing laboratory.
A processing plant on the outskirts of Dublin manufactures bitumen emulsions for the substantial surface dressing market in the Republic of Ireland.
To achieve independence for it’s own substantial demands for bitumen, Lagan opened a new terminal at Dublin Port in 2006 with a tankage capacity in excess of 10,000 tonnes, similar to its existing terminal at the Port of Belfast.
These modern terminals receive cargoes of crude bitumen sourced from world markets and can manufacture to a fine degree of accuracy straight run and cut-back bitumens.
The company also provides a Foamix mobile plant and is set to open a Polymer Modified Bitumen Plant in Dublin by mid-2008.
