Kingscourt Plant Redevelopment
Monday, 4th August 2008
|
The brick manufacturing facility at Kingscourt, County Cavan is undergoing a complete redevelopment programme, the first phase of which will entail a 1.5m Euros investment. The plant, now trading as Lagan Brick, closed in June to facilitate the first stage of the upgrade which is being carried out over a six-week period. Work includes relining a complete wall and roof section of Kiln 1 and replacing the existing pre-heat burners with a modern burning system which will give increased productivity, better quality and most importantly increased fuel efficiency. Part of the kiln upgrade also entails the complete refurbishment of 100 kiln cars. The brick cutting, wet and dry handling systems which were installed in 1985 are also being replaced with new machinery including a robotic setting machine. This machinery is being supplied and installed by Italian firm Cappaccioli and will increase productivity and improve plant running time and product quality. The next stage of the programme which will be implemented over the coming months involves upgrading the existing dryers to further improve energy efficiency. |
Lagan Brick at Victoria Square
Friday, 4th April 2008
|
Lagan Brick has played a pivotal role in the creation of one of Belfast’s most impressive developments in recent years. Victoria Square opened in the city centre in March – a brand new mixed use complex offering high quality shopping and leisure opportunities alongside luxury apartments. Kingscourt ‘Grafton’ bricks feature prominently in the development. The range was chosen due to its appearance which matches the old brickwork of Belfast and its ability to be easily incorporated into modern architectural design. Over 240,000 bricks were supplied for the apartments on Chichester Street, ensuring Lagan Brick leaves its mark on the city centre. |
